It started with a 30-minute delay and extended to over two hours. I started receiving messages the night before that our flight was delayed. This is a new aircraft and the seats looked fairly comfortable. The other classes are laid out in a 3-3 setup. This was less than half the cost of what Delta and United wanted for a one-way ticket in First Class. I caught a sale that made each ticket cost around $300. I booked directly with Breeze Airways and selected Nicest class seats in the bulkhead (seats 1D and 1F). These are: Economy (Nice), Economy with extra legroom (Nicer), and First Class (Nicest). The requesting server (in other words, the client) requests a message that is translated by the RPC and sent to another server. In this article, we will focus on the first two. However, there are three main models when building an API: RPC (Remote Procedure Call), REST (Representational State Transfer), and GraphQL. The most used architectural style is the REST API. In other words, APIs allow all the services that are integrated into a microservice application to connect and communicate. The component services that are part of the microservices architecture communicate and interact with each other through APIs. On the other hand, a microservice architecture comprises several smaller services that communicate with each other using protocols like HTTP. On the one hand, in a monolithic application, all the project's functionalities are included in a single unit, more precisely, in a single codebase. This article compares gRPC (Google Remote Procedure Call) and REST (Representational State Transfer) because they represent the two most popular architectural styles when creating APIs. This process happens thanks to APIs.Īn API specifies the types of requests that one application (web page or mobile app) can make to another and further establishes: how to make those requests which data formats to use and the practices that users have to follow. In turn, the server retrieves the data, interprets it, and then, once the required actions are executed, it sends a response back to us with the information on our interface. We go to the hotel booking page on our laptop, and that page - which is connected to the Internet - sends data (our request) to a server. An API is responsible for delivering a response from a user to a system, which in turn is sent back from the system to the user. These interfaces serve as a software intermediary that establishes specific determinations and rules for applications to interact and talk to each other. Table of ContentsĪPIs stand for Application Programming Interfaces. Considering their comparison, we will finally analyze when to use one architectural type or the other. Before we move on to their differences, we will first explain what an API is and why it is essential for microservices infrastructures.Īfterward, we will describe how RPC is the base for gRPC and consider the critical aspects of differentiation between gRPC and REST APIs. If you’re planning to fish for bluefish, be prepared for a fight. Bluefish are also known to follow fishing boats, where they will eagerly take bait from fishermen’s lines.Once they have their prey corralled, they will launch themselves into the school and bite off chunks of flesh with their razor-sharp teeth. They will often attack schools of baitfish with such ferocity that they will drive them to the surface of the water. Bluefish are notorious for their aggressive feeding behavior.Their torpedo-shaped bodies and powerful tails make them incredibly maneuverable, allowing them to make quick turns and sudden stops. They are capable of swimming at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour, which allows them to chase down prey and evade predators. She said, “I don’t believe that even a 14-year-old can truly understand what the loss of their fertility is.” Rowling further gave an example and stated, “At 14 I would have said that I didn’t want children but (motherhood) has been the most joyful, wonderful thing in my life. Talking more about the topic, mother-to-3 revealed that she doesn’t feel that the 14-year-old children are not mature enough to understand the transition. Rowling stated that her beliefs and opinions are more valuable as she admitted that she doesn’t care much about her legacy. JK Rowling has repeatedly said that she isn’t afraid of expressing her opinions and beliefs, admitted in this podcast that she faces questions about how her legacy is affected due to her questionable opinions. Aged 11 or 12 I looked very androgynous with short hair and I was acutely anxious about my changing body and became aware it was attracting attention that I didn’t welcome, particularly from boys at school.” Newsweek has reached out to Rowling for further comment.Shedding more light on her past, JK Rowling added, “I didn’t feel like I fitted in. It was the same for the Harry Potter novels. I have colour coded spreadsheets, so I can keep a track of where I am going. I plan and research a lot and know far more about the characters than actually ends up ever appearing in the books. She has been grouped in the same conversation as the likes of Dave Chappelle and The Handmaid's Tale author Magaret Atwood, who have faced their own criticism for their perceived stance on the trans community. I often start with a kernel of an idea then work out how to get there. Opinions of Rowling, famed author of the Harry Potter books and the Fantastic Beasts movie series, seems to have changed in recent years. "Many institutions I used to admire have uncritically embraced this dogma, but I reserve my ire for them rather than shouting 'coward' at individual women." Rowling agreed to an extent but explained where she drew the line. He praised her courage for her take on trans issues in the past, he called out people who have "simply caved to the demands of trans activists and completely surrendered truth and reality to them." Matt Walsh, a self-proclaimed "theocratic fascist" replied to Rowling's tweet. My family’s address (covered), a pipe bomb and a picture of a bomb-making handbook. She continued her stance on this subject on Monday morning, once again addressing men who suggest she should side with those criticizing Gray into changing her stance on the definition of a woman. Men whose default is policing women's speech and actions are not allies." "I'm not there for men calling women cowards when they never have to face this stuff themselves," Rowling replied, "nor am I OK with white guys publicly telling black women how to comport themselves. He said that the comments were beyond "mean" but suggested people criticizing Gray were also backing Rowling for having "a backbone." Seth Dillon, CEO of The Babylon Bee, a satirical Christian news website continued the debate with Rowling. If you don't yet understand what happens to women who stand up on this issue, back off. Gray was getting criticized and verbally abused for changing her mind by people on Twitter, which prompted Rowling to leap to her defense.Ĭomparing Gray's online abuse to her own experiences, Rowling wrote on Sunday, "Endless death and rape threats, threats of loss of livelihood, employers targeted, physical harassment, family address posted online with picture of bomb-making manual aren't 'mean comments'." She continued, "If you don't yet understand what happens to women who stand up on this issue, back off."Įndless death and rape threats, threats of loss of livelihood, employers targeted, physical harassment, family address posted online with picture of bomb-making manual aren't 'mean comments'. I feel bad that I did hurt some people," she said. ""I said some things that didn't go over well, but my intention was never to hurt anybody. Gray apologized for her comments during an appearance on NBC's Today Show. During an interview with Piers Morgan, Gray said, "And I will say this, and everybody's gonna hate me, but as a woman, just because you go change your parts doesn't make you a woman. Last week, Gray made controversial comments regarding the definition of a woman, something which Rowling has also been accused of in the past. Rowling has continued the debate surrounding recent comments by singer Macy Gray regarding trans women, slamming men who she said are "policing" women's speech. According to the business entity concept, Rs.1,00,000 will be assumed by a business as capital i.e. These are the assets of the business and not of the business owner. He purchased goods for Rs 50,000, furniture for Rs. Thus, the accounting transactions are recorded in the books of accounts from the organization's point of view and not the person owning the business. Similarly, when the owner takes away from the business cash/goods for his/her personal use, it is not treated as a business expense. For example, when the business owner invests his money in the business, it is recorded as a liability of the business to the owner. Hence, the business translation and personal transaction of its owner are different. This concept assumes that the organization and business owners are two independent entities. I think the best part of being in 5c, especially such a flexible 5c like RK, is you can run literally anything and everything you want that supports your end goal.*** C&J Cards only use 100% real Magic the Gathering cards. Decided on Reaper King as my newest EDH because it looked fun and its pretty cheap to make. That's how I'd run it, were I to build him. If you can afford fetches that's a big step up, but even stuff like ] and other good mana rocks and fixers would probably do the trick for you. I think the toughest part would be making a manabase that works on a budget (if you're on one). You're in 5c, so you have access to the best ramp, some countermagic support for your combos/making sure RK resolves, good removal in all colors (] for example would be fucking bananas if you went with the flicker/ETB route). If you're a fan of combos, I'd sneak in ] along with ] and Splinter Twin in for the infinite combo complete boardwipe. Title Reaper King EDH Format Commander Main Deck 100 / 100 Sideboard 0 Maybe 0 Average Mana Cost 3.22 / 2. However, abusing those ETB's would be really brutal, using cards such as ], ], ], ], ] etc. You're right, making occasional use of his ability is pretty subpar, especially combined with the fact that most Scarecrows aren't really that interesting or good. Take this with a grain of salt since I haven't actually built RK, but I think the best thing to do would be to build a 5c manabase that ramps extremely hard, then play some of the best Scarecrows and Changelings along with a heavy flicker/ETB/token creation theme. Keillor has repeatedly declined to comment for this story, but in November, he told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that his ouster then was simply the result of putting his hand on a woman's bare back to console her. SEPIC: Hilgenberg says Keillor apologized. But I didn't say anything, which I still regret to this day. And I was like, that is so wildly inappropriate, you know, in my mind. MOLLY HILGENBERG: I don't even really remember my reaction. It was about how he found one of his female employees physically arousing. Molly Hilgenberg, who worked in Keillor's St. SEPIC: In a 1999 court filing, MPR disputed the claims in McFadden's lawsuit. And it should not be an excuse to behave badly and treat others so poorly, especially women. PATRICIA MCFADDEN: I think people who have power and influence and good fortune have more responsibility to behave well than anybody. She did not allege sexual harassment but said Keillor bullied and humiliated women on his staff. In 1999, another woman, Patricia McFadden, was fired from Keillor's "Writer's Almanac" program and sued Minnesota Public Radio. The woman said she never cashed the check, nor did she sign the proposed confidentiality agreement. In 2009, his production company offered one of his subordinates $16,000, a non-disclosure agreement and a contract. It found that he had at least two consensual romantic relationships with women in workplaces he led. SEPIC: Jon McTaggart spoke publicly yesterday just as Minnesota Public Radio News, which operates independently of the company's corporate structure, was about to air the results of its own investigation into Keillor's past. We have not made public the documents, the allegations, the identities of anyone involved. JON MCTAGGART: We've been, from the beginning, committed to the privacy and confidentiality of everyone involved, including Garrison. McTaggart says the investigation has been thorough. MPR hired an outside law firm to investigate, and McTaggart says Keillor was included in the process. Along with the letter were excerpts of emails from Keillor. McTaggart says the woman's attorney sent a 12-page letter outlining accusations of unwanted sexual touching and dozens of inappropriate incidents over a period of years. At the time, Minnesota Public Radio CEO Jon McTaggart revealed very little, but now, he says a woman who worked on "Prairie Home" had come forward a month prior with allegations of sexual misconduct. MATT SEPIC, BYLINE: The company ended its relationship with Keillor in late November, immediately halting distribution of "The Writer's Almanac" and rebroadcasts of Prairie Home Companion shows Keillor hosted until his retirement. And now an investigation by Minnesota Public Radio News reveals that Keillor fostered a work environment that left some women feeling mistreated, sexualized or belittled. The break with the creator and former host of "A Prairie Home Companion" came amid allegations that he engaged in inappropriate behavior. All right, now some new details about Minnesota Public Radio's decision late last year to cut off its business ties with Garrison Keillor. Very rarely we’ll discuss kind of checkpoints of how we need to get from point A to sometimes point Z. And there's a lot of high-level communication that takes place on stage, a lot of anticipation of each other's moves. If we launch out of this section of the song and we land into a completely different section of another song, then you have this new segue that's never kind of been done before. And then therefore, we're trying to create more infinite possibilities. And what's cool is we're still discovering different parts of songs to use as launchpads. Maybe that jam comes out of the bridge, and it's a whole new set of chord changes that you've never done before. Maybe it's not that point in, after the second chorus is the jam. What the Disco Biscuits have always done since we were kids is, we find different moments at different points of songs, different springboards to jump off of. And you get to that section of the song where it opens up into that improvisational section, and then you get to the point of the song where the that improvisational section is over and it's capped by a chorus or a musical lick that says, that was the end of the jam, and then you finish the song. If it's a jam band, that jam can be rooted in lots of different genres of music, including the Disco Biscuits. MAGNER: What I love about the Disco Biscuits, and this has been at our ethos, at our core since we were kids is, rather than doing what is customary in the jam band or any improvisational world, be it jazz or something like that, is, you have the song, and then you have the section of the song that you open up into some form of improvisation rooted in whatever genre of music- You know, if it's jazz, it’s typically jazz. They’ve amassed a dedicated following over the years with their unique combination of beat-heavy electronic music paired with elements of jazz-fusion, funk, and prog. Over 2022, the band unveiled over a dozen new songs, announced a three-day Tranceatlantic event in Iceland coming up in May, and began releasing singles from their forthcoming studio album, their first since 2011’s “Otherwise Law Abiding Citizens.” As with many acts in the jam band scene, the Biscuits are best known for their sprawling, improv-heavy live performances. The Disco Biscuits, formed in Philadelphia in 1995, start 2023 with a surge of momentum. We’ll talk with Aron Magner about the Biscuits’ new suite of songs, upcoming trip to Iceland, and much more. But really, you're missing that one piece- Which is the fans.” So, we can rehearse it all we want in a band room. “We're a jam band, right? So, our art is frequently formulated on stage, right, because there's that symbiosis between fans and band, and there's that component that kind of needs to be there in order for the planets to align. The Philadelphia quartet brings its kaleidoscopic brand of trance fusion improvisation to the Palace Theatre in Albany on February 3 rd.
